Old belly material and insulation coming out from under a mobile home in Spring Hill, FL

Vapor barrier replacement in Spring Hill, FLThe belly, sealed tight.

We pull the old bottom board, replace what fell, and fasten new wrap under the whole floor.

Vapor Barrier & Belly Wrap

What the belly wrap does

The belly wrap is the sheet under your manufactured home that holds the floor insulation in place.

Once it tears, insulation drops, ducts sag and the crawl space air moves straight into the floor.

Older homes often still carry the original fiberboard, which crumbles once it gets wet.

We crawl under, photograph what we find and show you before anything is quoted.

Then the old board comes out, it is hauled away, and new wrap goes on fastened to the frame.

After the job

What changes once it is closed

A sealed belly keeps the insulation where it was installed, against the floor.

Your ducts stop pulling in crawl-space air, so the AC is cooling the house instead of the ground.

In Florida humidity that also means less moisture soaking into the floor decking.

You get the photos, so you can see the finished underside you will probably never crawl into.

Questions

Vapor Barrier questions

What is the difference between a vapor barrier and a moisture barrier?

The vapor barrier, or belly wrap, is fastened under the floor.

A moisture barrier is laid on the ground under the home to block damp soil.

Do you remove the old buffalo board?

Yes. Old fiberboard bellies come out and we haul them away, so nothing is left under or around the home.

Will you show me what is under my home?

Yes. We take photos during the inspection and before and after the work, and go over them with you.

Do you seal the ducts while the belly is open?

When ducts under the floor are loose or leaking, we lift and seal them while the belly is open.
