Pink insulation batts between floor joists around a PVC drain line, seen from under the home

Crawl space insulation in Spring Hill, FLFloors thathold the cool.

Old batts come out, new R-19 goes in between the floor joists, and loose ducts are lifted and sealed.

Crawl Space Insulation

Insulation you never see

The insulation under a manufactured home sits between the floor joists and does a lot of quiet work.

Once it gets wet, sags or falls, the floor is left open to the heat and damp of the crawl space.

We go under, photograph what is there and show you before any work starts.

Wet or fallen insulation comes out and leaves with us.

New R-19 kraft-faced batts go in between the joists, and wire mesh holds them up against the floor.

While the underside is open, we lift and seal any ducts that have come loose.

What to look for

Signs the floor needs insulating

  • Batts sagging or on the groundInsulation hanging from the floor or lying in the dirt has stopped doing its job.
  • Wet or stained insulationDamp, dark or crushed batts hold moisture against the floor instead of slowing heat.
  • Rooms that run hot or coldUneven rooms over a thin or bare floor often trace back to missing insulation below.
  • Pests nesting underneathTorn, chewed or nested-in batts are past saving and are better replaced than patched.

The work

What happens under your home

  1. 1

    Look and photograph

We go under, take pictures of the floor and insulation, and go over them with you.

  2. 2

    Strip the old batts

Wet, fallen or chewed insulation is pulled out and hauled off with the debris.

  3. 3

    Batts in, mesh up

R-19 batts go between the joists and wire mesh holds them tight against the floor.

  4. 4

    Ducts sealed, then wrap

Loose ducts are lifted and sealed, then the belly wrap goes on to hold it all in.

After the job

What new insulation changes

New batts sit snug against the floor, with no gaps where air can run through.

In a Florida summer, that slows the heat coming up from under the home into your rooms.

Dry insulation also stays where it was put, instead of sagging and pulling away.

You get before-and-after photos, so you can see the finished underside yourself.

Paired with a belly wrap and a ground moisture barrier, the whole underside works together.

I called TLC, Chad came out and gave me an estimate. He took pictures of all the problem areas and gave me two options: I could do a patch job or I could go over the top. I chose to rip it all out and start over. It’s been 2 months now and I am so glad I chose TLC. I can breathe better, my power bill has gone down, my home stays cool now. What a difference. TLC thank you for being honest and explaining everything thoroughly.

TLC you nailed it! Chad and his crew completed a full rip out of all old installation and vapor barrier. We are beside ourselves of the work him and his crew did from the punctuality to the clean up. TLC deserves 10 stars!!

Questions

Insulation questions

What insulation do you put under manufactured homes?

We install R-19 kraft-faced batts between the floor joists, held up with wire mesh until the belly is wrapped.

Do you remove the old insulation first?

Yes. Wet, fallen or damaged insulation comes out and gets hauled away before any new batts go in.

Does the whole floor need new insulation?

Not always.

We photograph first, so you can see whether it is one section or the full floor before deciding.

Why insulate a floor in Florida?

The floor sits over a hot, humid crawl space.

Insulation slows that heat from passing into your rooms and ducts.
